The New York City School Librarians’ Association (NYCSLA) is a local affiliate of the School Librarians’ Media Specialist section of the New York Librarians’ Association. Our members are librarians or teachers who work in libraries in the public schools in New York City, as well as graduate students and professors of library schools, and professionals interested in promoting libraries in New York City schools. NYCSLA provides professional development, school library advocacy, and a chance to meet socially for its members.

My name is Renee Rhodd and I am the Coordinator and Academic Advisor for Teacher Education programs Queensborough Community College in Bayside, New York. We currently have approximately six hundred pre-service teacher education students enrolled in our Dual Joint Degree AA/BA program in Elementary Education with Queens College.
I am writing to you to request a guest speaker for the spring semester to speak to our students about the role and value of a school librarian as well as career opportunities.
